Monday 3rd August

This morning the group took a trip to "The William and Patricia Venton Centre" to meet the old people that we'll be interviewing and taking pictures of for our project. In Mount Gould we first met the staff and each got a name badge so that communication with the elderly would be easier. After participating in their morning quiz game and getting to know them we all tried convincing each and every person to have their picture taken and even trying to persuade some of them to sit and have a chat with the team. We managed to interview five people through getting them to reminisce past sad and happy memories. We found out about their families, their partners, their friends, their jobs and also about their present life  as day centre clients.

Their memories as mentioned previously were both happy and sad with some of them even experiencing war. The majority of the people we met ended their interviews on a good note by focusing on the simple things in life that made and make them happy till this day..
It was incredible to see so many people with such different backgrounds come together and spend their days not only thinking about the past but also being thankful for the present...

So I think we would all agree that it was absolutely brilliant getting to know so many wonderful people in a matter of 2 hours and finding out more interesting stories about the past than any history book would have to offer...

From rugby players, to soldiers in Fukushima-Japan, to tea ladies, to housewives in Hong Kong we met them all! Every single one of them had great advice to give the young people of today and of course many beautiful memories to share...
